Abstract: In this talk we present an introduction to the LSST Dark Energy Science Collaboration (DESC), one of eight Science Collaborations preparing to carry out world-class science with data collected by the Vera C. Rubin Observatory. We aim to study observable signatures of the dark Universe, including dark energy, dark matter, neutrinos, and signatures of inflation. During this talk we provide a brief overview of the Rubin Observatory and the Legacy Survey of Space and Time (LSST). We then focus on the aims of LSST DESC and our collaboration set-up. We discuss some recent science highlights as well as computational efforts that are being carried out to prepare the collaboration for data arrival. There are many ways to get involved and in this talk we present the opportunities and challenges for the coming decade for LSST DESC.
