The different STAN that are provided in our institute are detailed below (in spanish):

Data Mining and Visualization

STAN Detail: Data mining is used to analyze large volumes of information, in order to find trends, correlations, patterns or signals of interest. Presenting information efficiently is another crucial tool to understand and identify links between different components of data.

Methodology: Methods from different areas are applied such as database, numerical analysis, inferential statistics and artificial intelligence (AI). Even though many methods are automatic, exploring data using interactive tools is also possible.

Primary Discipline: Astronomy

Disaggregated discipline: Statistics

Application Field: General promotion of knowledge

Industrial Activity: information services n.e.c

nstallation And Repair Service for Low Voltage Electrical Panels and Lines for Data Centre (ST 3097)

STAN Detail: It involves the sizing of the installation, design and mounting of general or sectional panels and the wiring between supply and consumption. If necessary, lighting technology is studied. This activity is designed for places that need new installations, modifications or expansions of their facilities such as SMEs, non-state institutions, computer centres, events, NGOs, among others .

Methodology: For each electrical panel, power requirement is evaluated and protection and switching equipment components are designed. Sizing and selection of the most appropriate distribution scheme are performed based on specific needs. Technical aspects are considered such as data network interferences and cooling requirements in equipment rooms. Lighting technology is evaluated and installation or modification of lighting fixtures is performed if necessary.

Primary Discipline: Civil, Electrical, Mechanical and Related Engineering.

Disaggregated discipline: Engineering

Field of Application: Energy-Electrical

Industrial Activity: Infrastructure projects for public utilities.

Advisory Services for The Implementation of Computer Networks (ST 3098)

STAN Detail: Advisory service for the design of wired and wireless networks for data centers is offered. The requirements for each case are considered, such as: network segmentation, advanced switching, routing, structured wiring, point-to-point and point-to-multipoint radio links. Required services for network operation and monitoring are evaluated. It is for companies and governmental and private agencies with communication needs at data or network segmentation level.

Methodology: In each case, an interview evaluating the needs of the client is conducted. Then, a proposal detailing the aspects to be considered, the recommended equipment to be installed and the practices for implementation is prepared.

Primary Disciple: Computing and Communications

Disaggregated discipline: Computing – Computer Networks

Field of Application: Communications

Industrial Activity: Telecommunication services n.e.c (Pager service included) | Telecommunication services n.e.c

Advisory Integral Services on The Planning, Implementation, Commissioning, And Management of Computer Clusters (ST 3126)

STAN Detail: High-performance computing (HPC) is a strategic discipline for companies, research centres and governmental bodies to create new knowledge liable into innovative products and services. It provides advising on architecture design and software quality processes for HPC systems, optimization of open-source software for numerical simulation and parallel computing, and administration of operating systems for HPC.

Methodology: The Centro de Computación de Alto Desempeño (HPC Center,CCAD), offers to interested entities or companies, a set of services essential for the process of acquiring a computer cluster: bidding (feasibility studies, application scenarios, technical specifications, etc.); selection of hosting facilities, installation, administration (of systems and equipments, of users, management and resolution of incidents, training for personal staff and users); and dismantling.

Primary Discipline: Maths

Disaggregated discipline: Maths – Analysis

Field of Application: Nuclear Energy

Industrial Activity: Extraction of crude oil (from oil sands, oil shales, petroleum oils or oils from bituminous minerals, oil, etc.)

Training in Biometric Data Mining (ST 4426)

STAN Detail: Training courses in data mining and visualization focusing on biometric data analysis are offered. The contents are: exploratory data analysis, data curation and data visualization, supervised learning, and presentation of results. It is aimed for private or public organizations that manage large amounts of data and need to extract relevant information or related to a specific objective.

Methodology: There are theoretical and practical classes in the training course. Debate sessions are organized to address participants’ specific issues. Different strategies to approach these issues are discussed. Evaluation consists of a preliminary project to extract relevant information from the client’s data.

Primary Discipline: Maths

Disaggregated discipline: Computing – Data Recovery

Field of Application: Science and culture-Data and documentation

Industrial Activity: Teaching of courses related to computing

Advisory Services in HPC Solutions and Cloud Computing (ST 4926)

STAN Detail: Advisory services in data mining and statistics are offered, particularly using HPC equipment, HPC-based solution advising and experience in collaborative development of HPC software, in particular, of free use in the scientific community and focused on concurrent programming, for high computational cost jobs. Target audience: companies or individuals that require data science applications.

Methodology: Unresolved issues are analyzed. They are proposed by clients with high computational cost, either due to large volumes of data or due to their complexity. After that, numerical or statistical tools and solutions to address the unresolved issue are offered. Moreover, data analysis is provided to obtain some information that has not been considered, opening new levels of solutions. Finally, a report with results is delivered to the client.
