A long alignment history

Cinthia Ragone-Figueroa, a researcher at the Instituto de Astronomía Teórica y Experimental (IATE), together with an international team, developed computational simulations that made it possible to verify that the galaxy clusters and their central galaxy have remained aligned for more than 8 thousand million years.

The closest natural plasma laboratory: The Sun

Abril Sahade, doctoral fellow at Instituto de Astronomía Teórica y Experimental (IATE), Mariana Cécere, a researcher at the same institute and Gustavo Krause of Instituto de Estudios Avanzados en Ingeniería y Tecnología (IDIT), published an article in which they analyze, starting from computational simulations, how material ejected from the Sun is deflected due to the presence of certain structures in the corona.

Posdoctoral position in Numerical Simulations of Galaxy Formation

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral fellowship in Numerical Simulations of Galaxy Formation at the the Institute for Theoretical and Experimental Astronomy (IATE), Córdoba, Argentina. This is a two-year position sponsored by a grant "Computational Astronomy" from CONICET (Argentina National Scientific and Technical Research Council) with a flexible starting date in 2020. The successful applicant will work with Dr. Mario Abadi. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Astronomy (or related field) or expected to obtain their Ph.D. in the near future. IATE has a dozen senior researchers working on galaxy formation, large scale structure of the universe, planetary systems and astrophysical plasmas.
