The IV Workshop on the Halo-Galaxy Connection brought together the international astronomical community in Córdoba

Between December 3 and 5, 2025, the IV Workshop on the Halo-Galaxy Connection was successfully held at the Faculty of Mathematics, Astronomy, Physics, and Computing (FaMAF) – UNC, organized by the Institute of Theoretical and Experimental Astronomy (IATE, CONICET-UNC) and endorsed by the Córdoba Astronomical Observatory (OAC, UNC).

El encuentro contó con 20 exposiciones de 11 instituciones de 5 países (Argentina, Brasil, Chile, España y México), junto a una audiencia activa que participó en discusiones y sesiones de intercambio, totalizando alrededor de 30 asistentes.

Throughout three days, the program combined scientific presentations in the morning and thematic debates in the afternoon, addressing key research lines such as:

  • Halo occupancy and galaxy-halo modeling

  • Secondary bias and cosmic environment effects

  • Baryonic physics and gas processes in galaxies

  • Machine learning applications in cosmology

  • Alignment and evolution of shapes and angular momenta

The workshop allowed for the identification of open questions, methodological limitations, and future directions, highlighting the need to standardize metrics, improve numerical simulations, and prepare for upcoming large-scale surveys such as LSST, DESI, and Euclid.

As a result, the development of a collaborative review document was planned to synthesize definitions, methodologies, and best practices in the field, consolidating the role of Córdoba's institutions in international astronomical research.
